This morning, when I arrived at work, I found this strange device under my desk 😲. Inside was a chip and something that looked like a sensor 🤔. I couldn’t understand what it was, but then I noticed that almost every desk had the same device!
I decided to ask my manager why they had installed this device under our desks, and when I found out the reason, I was shocked 😢. How can you work in this office after that?
I explain what it is in the first comment 👇👇
This morning, when I arrived at work, as usual, I made myself some coffee and headed to my desk. But as soon as I sat down, I noticed something strange under the desk — a small white device with a lens and a sticker with numbers.
At first, I thought it was just old tech or part of the ventilation system. But curiosity got the better of me — I carefully unscrewed the casing and was surprised: inside was a chip and something that looked like a sensor.
I went to my colleagues to ask if they had ever encountered anything like this. And that’s when the interesting part began: almost every desk had the same device! Everyone was surprised, as no one knew what it was for.
We conducted a small “investigation,” and what we found shocked us: they were wireless presence sensors.
These devices detect whether you are at your workstation — not through the computer, not by logging into the system, but physically, by your movements or body heat
None of us were notified. No alerts, no consent. Just — here’s the sensor, and they’re monitoring us.
Mixed feelings: on the one hand, control; on the other, an invasion of privacy. I never thought that one small box would raise so many questions about trust and transparency in the office…
