Many switched from cigarettes to vaping thinking it’s a safer, nicotine-free alternative. But recent research challenges this belief.

The study found that vaping—whether with or without nicotine—negatively impacts vascular (blood vessel) function. This means your heart and circulatory system could be silently stressed even if you vape nicotine-free.

Why? Vape liquids contain chemicals like diacetyl (linked to lung disease), benzaldehyde (a respiratory irritant), and heavy metals from coils. These toxins affect not only your lungs but also your blood vessels.

The study compared traditional cigarettes, nicotine vapes, and nicotine-free vapes—all harmed blood vessel function, with nicotine-containing e-cigs having the worst effects.

Experts warn that vaping, especially among youth who often prefer flavored, nicotine-free versions, poses a hidden health risk and may lead to nicotine addiction or traditional smoking.

**Bottom line:** Vaping is not harmless. Even nicotine-free vaping can damage your vascular health and should be approached with caution.
