Carrie Underwood Releases Statement About Inauguration Performance; Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, and More Added

A handful of performers for the Presidential Inauguration events have been released. An eclectic mix of artists will take the stage to serenade the President-elect, Donald Trump. Carrie Underwood will perform “America the Beautiful” prior to the inauguration by Chief Justice John Rogers on January 20. Joining Underwood will be the United States Naval Academy Glee Club and the Armed Forces Chorus.Underwood recently released a statement regarding her performance at the inauguration. Some fans may have assumed her performance would be a political statement, but Underwood is adamant that it’s the opposite. Instead, she sees it as a call for unity and togetherness.

Still, many Carrie Underwood fans disagreed, with the general question being “why would she do this?” Underwood has never taken much of a political stance, and told The Guardian in 2019, “I try to stay far out of politics, if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins,” adding. “It’s crazy. Everybody tried to sum everything up and put a bow on it like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

Additional performances include Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and The Village People. They will perform during the inaugural rally the Sunday before Inauguration Day. Many fans on social media are excited to see the lineup for the inauguration, as many of these performers have put their support behind the President-elect.
