Joe returns home with his fiancée, Emily, after placing his aging mother, Nora, in a nursing home. But to his shock, he finds his belongings on the doorstep and a new family moving into his house. A stranger informs him that Nora sold the home. Emily, furious, lashes out at Joe for being naive, reveals there’s no baby, and leaves him. Crushed, Joe discovers a letter from Nora hidden in a box. In it, she reveals she overheard Emily plotting to send Nora to a nursing home, manipulate Joe, and take the house. Nora tried to warn him, but he refused to believe her. Emily had even faked a pregnancy and lied about kissing another man, claiming he was her cousin. Blinded by love, Joe chose Emily over his mother. With no other way to protect him, Nora sold her home and staged everything to expose Emily and cut her off. Joe, filled with guilt, rushes to the nursing home to apologize, only to find Nora had suffered a respiratory failure and died. At the hospital, he learns she had been declining and had skipped treatment. Moments later, Joe receives a message—Nora had transferred $500,000 to his bank account from the sale of the house. It was her final act of love, a heartbreaking sacrifice to save her son from a woman who never truly cared for him.
